The fashion industry has a problem.
Beautiful pieces that fall apart after four wears. Closets overflowing with clothes that never get worn. A cycle of buying, discarding, and guilt that leaves both our wardrobes and our planet worse off.
In 2023, Olivia Saha and Arnab Neogi looked at this problem and asked a simple question: What if luxury fashion could be both beautiful and sustainable?
Not as a marketing angle. Not as a trend. But as the foundation of how clothes are designed, made, and worn.
That question became Shinaraa.

The Vision: Making Luxury Fashion Sustainable and Mainstream
When Olivia and Arnab started Shinaraa two years ago, they had a clear mission: make luxury fashion sustainable and mainstream. Not niche. Not exclusive to those who already care about sustainability. Mainstream.
"It doesn't really matter if your sales are growing 10x or you're getting celebrity endorsements," Arnab reflects. "What matters is whether a founder's purpose truly aligns with what they're building."
For Shinaraa, that purpose is simple: create pieces designed to be worn 40+ times, not four. Quality over quantity. Investment over impulse. Longevity over trends.
Every piece we design asks the same question: Will someone still reach for this in their wardrobe two years from now?
Why Hong Kong?
Hong Kong sits at the intersection of East and West, tradition and innovation, heritage craftsmanship and modern design. It's where Shinaraa was born - not by accident, but by design.
We design in Spain for timeless European silhouettes, then craft in Hong Kong where textile expertise has been refined over generations. This dual heritage gives Shinaraa pieces their distinctive character: sophisticated enough for Central, versatile enough for Sai Kung, durable enough for real life.
Hong Kong's conscious consumers understand the value of quality. They know that a HKD 2,800 dress worn 40 times costs HKD 70 per wear - less than a fast fashion piece worn four times and discarded.
This is our community. These are the women we design for.
More Than Fashion: A Business With Purpose
"Olivia and I believe that every business has a purpose," Arnab shares. "That creates, nurtures or saves livelihoods. That's the gospel truth we live by every day."
This philosophy shows up in everything we do:
Our materials tell the sustainability story: Bemberg Modal, organic cotton, Azo-free dyes. Sustainable not as a buzzword, but as a standard.
Our construction proves the quality promise: French seams, reinforced stress points, quality checkpoints. Each piece built to last, not just to sell.
Our design philosophy centers on versatility. The Spaghetti Strap Maxi Dress moves from elegant dinners to evening events, and many more. Investment pieces that earn their place in your closet.
Our community commitment goes beyond transactions. We support local Hong Kong causes like Plastic Free Seas, partner with conscious consumers who value quality over quantity, and build relationships that matter.
In our community: Supporting local Hong Kong causes, partnering with conscious consumers who value quality over quantity, building relationships that go beyond transactions.
This isn't fast fashion. This is fashion that respects your time, your money, and your values.

What "Shinaraa" Actually Means
Our name tells our story.
Shinaraa combines two words: Shakti (Hindi for "power") and Shringara (Sanskrit for "love, romance, and beauty").
It's the union of strength and elegance. The balance of structure and softness. The woman who values both quality and style, both substance and beauty.
Our logo, designed by Arcana Studio captures this philosophy visually. It's timeless, sophisticated, and intentional. Just like our pieces.
The Reality of Building Something Meaningful
Building Shinaraa hasn't been easy.
"We've done all of that at varying levels and at different instances in our journey," Arnab notes about the typical startup milestones - sales growth, team building, media attention.
But what keeps them going isn't the metrics. It's the purpose.
"Simply show up when even waking up becomes a challenge."
That's what building a sustainable fashion brand looks like. Not glamorous photoshoots and viral moments (though those happen too). But daily decisions to prioritize quality over speed, longevity over trends, purpose over profit.
It's the woman who messages us saying she's worn her Shinaraa jacket 30 times and it still looks new. It's the customer who brings her friends to our PMQ store because she wants them to experience what quality feels like. It's knowing that every piece we make contributes to changing how people think about fashion.
Where We're Going
"Shinaraa believes in the vision of making luxury fashion sustainable and mainstream, and we're just getting started."
Over the next few years, you'll see us:
Expanding our collection while maintaining our quality standards. Later this year, you'll see new pieces in our signature silhouettes, each designed with the same philosophy, same quality, more ways to build your conscious wardrobe
Deepening our Hong Kong roots. We're proud to be based at PMQ, Hong Kong's creative hub, and we'll continue supporting local causes and community.
Building a movement, not just a brand. Every woman who chooses one Shinaraa piece over ten fast fashion pieces is part of changing the industry.
Proving that sustainable luxury can be mainstream. Not niche. Not compromise. Just better.
Join Us
Shinaraa exists because Olivia and Arnab believed that fashion could be different. That quality and sustainability aren't opposites. That luxury doesn't have to come at the planet's expense.
Two years in, that belief is becoming reality, one piece, one customer, one conscious choice at a time.
This is just the beginning. Ready to experience the difference?
